Katy Perry leaving her position as a judge on American Idol left many fans heartbroken this year. The Firework singer spent seven seasons as a judge alongside Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and host Ryan Seacrest.

Ever since Katy Perry left her position on American Idol, fans of the show have been speculating a lot about who would be best to replace her. Carrie Underwood was confirmed to take the singer’s place in August. But now Katy is reportedly “struggling to get back on the show” as her new album “flops.”

Katy Perry ‘fighting to return to American Idol’

Katy left the American Idol judging panel and jumped right into her new album this year.

But, according to a Life and Style source, the singer is now “fighting to get back” to the TV show.

The report suggests Katy’s album has “sunken” and she wants the “constant security” of her old job.

“Now that his album flopped, he’s fighting to regain his place at the judges’ table. It’s a clear sign that even she knows her days as a chart-topping artist are behind her. But Carrie has the job now and unless the new season is a ratings disaster, there’s no way Katy will sit in that chair again,” the source says.

Katy fans beg for tour dates

Although the source claims Katy’s album is a “flop,” the California Girls singer’s Instagram comments section disagrees.

Katy has many fans taking to her social media page to say that they really want her to add more dates to her tour in “Europe” and “United States.”

The former American Idol judge also writes how surprised she is by how well her tour is going:

“I am absolutely amazed by your response to THE LIFETIMES TOUR. “I just found out we’ve already sold over 125,000 tickets and so far we’ve only announced dates in Australia… WOW I LOVE YOU FOR LIFE and can’t wait to dance with you all in 2025,” he writes.

Some people don’t seem to have any problem expressing their opinions about the 39-year-old musician’s new music.

One writes, “It sucks,” while another comments, “…it’s a flop…” However, it seems like most are here for Katy’s new music, telling her it’s “…amazing.”

The singer also took to the ‘gram on October 3 to share more dates that had been added to the Australian leg of her tour.
