Alexis Anderli Hernández Mejía, a 27-year-old National Police officer, was reported missing on Friday after his truck was found abandoned on the CA-11 highway, in the municipality of Jesús de Otoro, Intibucá, in the western region . from Honduras.
The next day, Hernández Mejía was found half-naked and with several wounds in a ravine near the place where he had last been seen.

Images spread on social networks showed the location of the discovery, a pair of tennis shoes and blood stains, which generated alarm among users.

According to the preliminary report, the officer reported that several people were following him, because the vehicle stopped them and in an attempt to escape, he jumped into a ravine, which caused him multiple injuries.
The uniformed man was taken to a healthcare center to receive medical attention, where he is recovering from his injuries.
Meanwhile, the Police Investigation Directorate (DPI) is working to clarify the facts and determine if the officer was the victim of an attempted kidnapping or another type of attack.
