Motagua and Olimpia managed to stay, respectively, in second and third place in the 2024 Apertura Tournament of the National League of Honduras after having defeated their respective rivals from matchday 12 of said tournament this Saturday, October 19.
In the case of the Lions, they beat Victoria 4-3 in the first match of this date, which was played at the ‘Chelato Uclés’ National Stadium, in Tegucigalpa, in Francisco Morazán.

For their part, the Águilas beat Real Sociedad 1-4 in their match played at the Francisco Martínez Durón Stadium, in Tocoa, in Colón.
In this way, Motagua reached 23 points in the standings and, with one less, Olimpia follows, both behind Real España which, in the absence of its match against Olancho FC, remains in first place with 25 points.
Olympia vs. Victory
In a great game at the Chelato Uclés, the Lions defeated the Jaibas with goals from Jorge Benguché (11), Jorge Álvarez (14) and Michaell Chirinos (19 and 22), while for the Ceibeños José Danilo Tobías (4), Rolando Blackburn (54) and Pablo Cacho (90).
The first goal came after Danilo Tobías finished off after a series of passes from Jaiba Brava, although shortly after the Lions tied with a Benguché who scored after a cross from José Mario Pinto.
Quickly, Jorge Álvarez – who was left alone in front of the rival goal – made it 2-1 after a pass from Chirinos.
Meanwhile, Chirinos scored his double after taking advantage of a shot in the area and, later, with a header after a center from Pinto.
The last goals of the match came in the second half: one from Blackburn, who took a shot from outside the area that was deflected by a player from the current champion of the national tournament; and the other from Cacho, who scored with a header after a set piece.
Real Sociedad vs. Motagua
On a magical night for the Águilas, Motagua won the game with a double from Agustín Auzmendi (19th and 37th) and with goals from Carlos Mejía (49th) and Rodrigo Auzmendi (84th).
For his part, Dester Mónico scored for the Aceiteros in the 61st minute.
‘El Pistolero’ Auzmendi scored his goals with a header and another with his foot after being left alone in front of the rival goal, while Carlos Mejía scored his goal after a left-footed shot from outside the area.
Finally, both Dester Mónico and Rodrigo Auzmendi managed to score their goal after being left alone in front of the rival goalkeeper following a great assist from a teammate.

The twelfth date of the 2024 Apertura Tournament, which occurred after a two-week break due to the FIFA date – a period in which the Honduras National Team obtained its pass to the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Nations League – will culminate tomorrow with these matches:
