Tulisa Contostavlos’s ‘face fell at 24’
Tulisa Contostavlos revealed her face fell off when she was 24, a year after leaving The X Factor as a judge. He realized it was his first attack of Bell’s palsy and did not leave the house.
Bell’s palsy is an unexplained episode of weakness or paralysis of the facial muscles. She told the So Wrong It’s Right podcast: “I was sitting at home and I had a big burst of swelling in my cheek.”
“They gave me steroid injections but the doctors don’t know what caused it. Then my whole face fell off, I couldn’t move it and my face stayed like that for seven months,” he explained.
He underwent filling to even out the swelling.
Until recently, Tulisa had not had any surgery except fillers. While no one knows what caused his cheek to “pop,” his face still didn’t look good and still appeared to have slight swelling.
She said: “I would go and look for fillers to balance out the symmetry and I would put a little bit on that cheek to even out the puffiness on that cheek. As you can imagine, the vicious cycle… Then I had two years without Bell’s palsy attacks.”
Tulisa then noticed that a small swelling began to appear on the same cheek that was previously affected, which “got worse and gave tingling sensations, like ants crawling on my face.”
He began seeing doctors across the UK. Finally, after many attempts, the former judge was diagnosed with three chronically infected cysts around her cheek area.

At first, doctors who noticed the shadows on her face said it was a filler or a benign cyst that “can’t be causing problems.” However, he had been feeling unwell for years and had health problems.
Tulisa dissolved all the filler on her face and only has a little left on her lips. She explained why people think she has filler in her face, saying, “Because of the swelling here, it gives you that chubby cheek look.”
He underwent an operation that left his face less swollen and said: “I still have swelling but it is much less than it was. Over the next two months, I will get rid of these liquid bubbles.”
