Shawn and Steve Pomrenke of Bering Sea Gold started a business together in the gold mining industry. They came to blows over a $1.5 million settlement in which Steve accused his son of “defrauding” him.
With a huge amount of cash on the line, Discovery Channel’s Gold Divers saw father and son go head to head for a major deal. They used to have half of the business each, until they made a risky deal.
Bering Sea Gold Stars Reach $1.5 Million Deal
Shawn Pomrenke reached a breaking point with his father, Steve, who claimed that his son had been “ripping him off” since he started doing business with him. Previously, each of them owned half of the Pomrenke Empire.
The father and son reached a deal in which Steve would sell Shawn his half for $1.5 million, meaning he would own the entire business. They didn’t agree to the plan, but two years later, Steve hadn’t retired.
“Now he’s basically avoiding me, all I hear is that he’s trying to change the deal, trying to get more money out of me,” Shawn said, adding that his father “isn’t running the business as efficiently as he would.”
In Shawn’s opinion, the fact that the gold mine is not generating the profits it should poses a huge risk to his safety, since television stars depend on the interior of the country for a “huge amount of their income.”

Shawn Pomrenke clashes with his father
Shawn reveals that the season has been difficult, but the time has come to make a deal with his father. “If the empire is going to continue advancing, I have to do it no matter how ugly it gets,” he said.
He waited for his father to appear and reach an agreement. Fully prepared to scream and scream, Shawn yelled at Steve, “You wonder why I’m screwed? “I’m screwed because I don’t like people.”
Steve replies, “I don’t like you either and the way you’ve been ripping me off since I started doing business with you.” Shawn told his father that he dedicates a lot of time to the business.
However, this led to more yelling when Steve insists that he is owed half, to which Shawn angrily responded, “So what? I’m not getting anything?” before Steve said that “it’s not his damn fault.”

Shawn yells, “I’m not retiring anymore,” but Steve bluntly warns, “We’ll see you in court and then you’ll eat dust.” Despite being family, Shawn maintains that “business is business.”
Pomrenke Mining is actively involved in the exploration of gold mines, both onshore and offshore. In the end, it is believed that all the gold went into a single pot, but fans felt it was written for television.
