The nation’s favorite comedy duo Baddiel and Skinner reunite for Stand Up To Cancer on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox.
Baddiel and Skinner are one of the UK’s favorite comedy duos of the 1990s and ’90s. In the 1990s, the pair co-hosted Fantasy Football League on BBC Two, which launched their iconic anthem that football nuts still sing today: Three Lions. In the 2000s they moved on to a talk show: Baddiel and Skinner Unplanned. Now the nation’s favorites are back in search of more unplanned gold, appearing on Channel 4’s Gogglebox.
Frank and David join Gogglebox
David Baddiel and Frank Skinner are most famous for The Lightening Seeds’ football anthem Three Lions and will now appear on the Friday 25 October episode of Channel 4’s Gogglebox.
The episode is in aid of the charity Stand Up To Cancer.
Frank Skinner told The Sun: “It’s an incredible cause and Dave and I, sitting on the sofa again, seems like a better deal than cycling up K2, carrying a fridge to Istanbul or any of those sweaty things people do. for charitable purposes.”
David Baddiel added: “I’m a big fan of Gogglebox, Stand Up To Cancer and Frank Skinner, so it wasn’t a hard yes.”
“If we can raise awareness and funds to fight this terrible disease, it is worth the enormous effort of collapsing in front of the screen with my old friend,” he continued.
These comedy best friends met backstage at a comedy club in 1990 before cementing their lifelong friendship when they became roommates during the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 1992.
Even now, the couple is just 15 doors away from being able to relax on each other’s couches and regularly catch up on shows together. “I’ve been watching TV with David Baddiel for about 30 years,” Frank said.
Before cheekily adding: “The only TV I refused to watch with him was the one he was on with me. He [Baddiel] “I never laughed enough.”
‘I usually don’t allow talking when the TV is on’
This Celebrity Gogglebox special will be available to watch and stream on Channel 4 from 9pm on October 25.
The poster for the show shows the couple side by side on a dark blue velvet sofa with silver cushions. On the table are a variety of snacks to accompany the viewing.
Along with these old friends, the UK’s tallest comedian, Stephan Merchant and Josh Widdecombe, will also appear on this week’s show.
Merchant said: “I don’t usually allow talking when the TV is on, because I know how much work goes into making shows, so I try to give them my full attention.”
However, this comedian will make an exception for the charity: “But I’m happy to break my own rule for Stand Up to Cancer and join the Gogglebox special this year with my friend Josh Widdicombe. “The charity does fantastic work, raising money for life-saving research and it is a privilege to be involved.”
Widdicombe added his own enthusiasm with a brief joke about his friend’s lofty heights: “Stand Up to Cancer is an incredible cause, so I’m honored to be involved. I love Stephen and I especially like working with him when we are sitting so I don’t look like a hobbit next to him.”
