An accident on the highway that connects the states of Zacatecas and Aguascalientes, in north-central Mexico, left at least 24 people dead and five more injured, authorities reported this Saturday.
The accident occurred when a bus overturned into a ravine after colliding with the trailer detached from a tractor-trailer, obstructing the communication route.

The governor of Zacatecas, David Monreal Ávila, regretted the event on his social networks, expressing his condolences to the affected families.
“From the first moment the mishap occurred, I gave instructions to address this unfortunate event. All security and emergency corporations were mobilized to the place where the accident occurred,” said Monreal, ensuring that the necessary support will be provided to the injured and the victims’ families.
For its part, the National Guard activated the GN-A relief Plan, deploying teams to provide perimeter security, assistance to emergency services and clean the communication route.
The general secretary of the state government of Zacatecas, Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza, explained that the bus, coming from Tepic, in the state of Nayarit, and bound for Ciudad Juárez, in Chihuahua, collided with the trailer of a tractor-trailer transporting corn.
