Courtney Green is trying to raise awareness through TOWIE about TAY SACHS disease in honor of her gorgeous nephew Marley, who was diagnosed this year.

The Only Way is Essex star Courtney Green has been blessed with three beautiful nephews in her family. Joyfully welcoming the newest child on August 10, this year also proved to be a challenge: sadly their middle nephew was diagnosed with Tay Sachs disease. In a sweet video shared by TOWIE, Courtney spends some quality time with the little ones.

Courtney gave a heartbreaking statement about Tay Sachs

In a heartbreaking statement in early October 2024, Courtney Green told the ITVBe cast and her Instagram followers that her nephew has a rare neurodegenerative disorder known as Tay Sachs disease.

The Instagram post read: “It’s hard to find the words, it has taken a lot of strength for my family to talk about this. “My beautiful nephew Marley has been diagnosed with a rare fatal genetic disorder called Tay-sachs.”

“We are all beyond heartbroken and this will be the most difficult time for us as a family. The only thing that keeps me strong is seeing the strength of my sister and Danny along with Marley, who is a very feisty, strong and happy child.”

Symptoms of childhood Tay Sachs disease usually begin when the child is between 3 and 6 months old, and include seizures, difficulty swallowing, and vision loss. While there is currently no cure, the condition is usually fatal within 3 to 5 years, often as a result of complications from lung infections.

Courtney wants to use her platform on TOWIE to “raise awareness of rare genetic disorders so that no one has to go through what we are currently going through.”

Courtney spends quality time with her brilliant nephews

In a clip posted from the TOWIE X account on October 28, Courtney is seen in an endearing moment with her two older nephews.

The older of the two inspected the belly of his younger brother, Marley, where he has a tube to supply him with fluid.

“Gentle,” Courtney told him before asking the boy, “What’s wrong?” [the medical device] called?”

His nephew responded: “Button.”

Before he added: “It’s Marley’s special button.”

The moment is especially endearing since the brother knew exactly what that ‘special button’ was for and told his aunt: “The water comes in through there. And it goes into your belly and not into your mouth.”

“You must have clean hands,” he instructed as Courtney is seen laughing in the background.

What an incredible brother to know so much about caring for his siblings, if Courtney’s ambition is to raise awareness about this disease, there is almost no cuter way to do it.

“But Marley is amazing, right? He just keeps going,” the reality star said, before cooing about how “beautiful” her nephew is.
