Marco Eliud Girón, deputy of the Libertad y Refundación (Libre) party, confirms that fellow deputy, Luis Redondo Guifarro, president of the National Congress, will be sworn in as a candidate for deputy for the department of Cortés within that political party as a new member.

In that sense, Girón highlighted the importance of Redondo’s inclusion in the June M28 movement, since “the Libertad y Refoundación party will welcome engineer Luis Redondo.”

In addition, he emphasized that other movements within the party, led by the presidential candidate and Secretary of Defense, Rixi Moncada, have also opened their doors to him, which would highlight the widespread support he is receiving.

“This, for us, is very important because engineer Luis Redondo has shown loyalty to the Honduran people and the Libertad y Refundación party. We have also been loyal to engineer Luis Redondo, and I think he deserves to be on these lists of the Cortés department as the first deputy,” said Girón.

The deputy emphasized that support does not come only from the movements, but also from other Cortés deputies. According to Girón, this support is crucial and shows that “the doors of all the structures” of Libre have been opened to him.

When asked about the political current for which Redondo would be running, Girón confirmed that it would be for the M28 current, which has provided its support, although he also mentioned that “Rixi is being supported by the majority of political currents, except for the current of Rasel Tomé”.

“There are more than six political currents (in Libre) that are supporting Rixi Moncada, but engineer Luis Redondo will also receive support from several political currents, including the M28 movement,” Girón stressed.

If Luis Redondo, a systems engineer, is sworn in as a member and pre-candidate of Libre, he would become the fourth political party in Honduras in his political career.

And in 2011 he entered politics to support Salvador Nasralla, former presidential appointee and presidential candidate, to form the Anti-Corruption Party (PAC), in which he was elected as a deputy in the 2013 elections.

Later, when Nasralla left the PAC, Redondo joined the Innovation and Unity Party (Pinu) for the 2017 elections, in which he was also elected as a deputy.

In this party he was a deputy until 2020, when he decided to join Nasralla again when he founded the Salvador Party of Honduras (PSH), in which he was also elected.

After being elected, Luis Redondo was proposed and named president of the National Congress, where his attachment to Libre was greater than that he had for the PSH, which is why, according to Marco Eliud Girón, he would be sworn in from 2024 as a new member of the party. government.
