Nolasco faces charges of murder as an accomplice, although he was acquitted of the crime of attempted murder to the detriment of a protected witness.
This defendant was deported from the United States and was captured on October 15 upon arriving in the country due to an immigration red alert in force since October 26, 2021.
The police operation was carried out after the arrival of a flight from Alexandria Luxor, United States, to the Ramón Villeda Morales international airport.
The judge has ordered that Nolasco remain in the El Progreso penitentiary center while the judicial process progresses.
Background of the case
According to the police file, on October 14, 2021, around 8:00 pm, an armed individual attacked American businessman Richard Kolinsky on the main street of West End, in front of the Argentina Grill restaurant, in Roatán, Islas de the Bay.
As a result of the attack, Kolinsky suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local clinic, where he died minutes later due to the severity of the injuries caused by the firearm.
Condemned
In relation to this case, two people have already been sentenced: Lubis Manuel Nolasco Ovieda, who received a sentence of 20 years, and Andrés Alberto Alvarado Chandía, sentenced to 20 years and 6 months.
Alvarado Chandía, who was food and beverage director at the Infinity Bay hotel in Roatán, took advantage of his friendship with Kolinsky to orchestrate the crime.
