Real Housewives of Orange County fans are still getting to know newbie Katie Ginella. While the drama between the other women in the group reaches a fever pitch in season 18, Katie can barely get a word out. But the newcomer certainly grabs viewers’ attention as she shares her heartbreaking adoption story with her castmates this fall.

The Real Housewives of Orange County cast is made up of some true OGs this year, including Tamra Judge and Shannon Storms Beador. The two are arguably stealing much of the spotlight in the season 18 episodes, with Emily Simpson, Gina Kirschenheiter, Jennifer Pedranti and Katie also weighing in on the drama. During a conversation about mammograms, Katie takes the opportunity to clarify why she doesn’t know her own medical history.

Katie tells the group about her adoption.

While the ladies of RHOC talk about the topic of mammograms, Katie Ginella tells her castmates that she “doesn’t know anything about her story, her adoption.”

He adds: “That’s the only thing I wish I had: a medical history.”

The reality show newcomer explains how, for her fortieth birthday, she will go to Korea to “hopefully” meet her biological mother.

He explains that his biological mother is 55 years old, married and has children.

Katie’s mom had her when she was 15.

As Katie tells the emotional story of how her mother had to abandon her as a child, she explains the difficult scenario to the other women.

Katie tells her co-stars that her mother was “super young when she had her,” before being asked, “Is your birth mother 55?”

Emily Simpson does the math and tells Katie, “You’re 40, so she was 15.”

Katie goes on to explain more details about why she was put up for adoption.

“He almost put me in a factory. He worked until the day I was born and kept me for three days, and then he found out he couldn’t keep me,” Katie tells the group.

The Bravo star sheds tears during the show when Gina tells her, “She couldn’t, she wanted to.”

“Yes, but it’s okay. “All I want to do is say, ‘I had an amazing life and I’m fine,’ and I’m super grateful.”

Speaking in a confessional, Katie adds:

“I feel like if I had given my baby up for adoption, the only thing I would want to know is if he was raised well, loved, cared for, and provided for. So, I just want her to know, ‘I’m cool and I’m not mad at you; In fact, I applaud you for making that decision.’”
