The Real Housewives of New York rebrand had fans worried at one point. Now, fans have adjusted to the new rebooted cast and many are excited for Jessel Taank, Sai Da Silva, Jenna Lyons and company. But many fans are taking to social media this fall in utter confusion over the totally out-of-context words being thrown around the room in the middle of the fight. As if RHONY’s pigeon-themed trailer wasn’t mind-blowing enough, now the ladies are using the word “pineapple” willy-nilly.

A girls’ trip to the Hamptons sounds absolutely lovely to most people. But the reality of the Real Housewives of New York ladies’ staycation experience seemed to be far from a good time. While Erin Lichy worried about the number of complaints she might receive as host, a fight got so wild that Sai De Silva is pulling the safe word out of the bag.

Hamptons chat gets hot

During a group trip to the Hamptons, Ubah Hassan and Brynn Whitfield get into a fight over the way everyone talks to each other.

In the episode 4 scene, Brynn tells Ubah to “watch his language,” while Ubah responds, “You can’t tell me what to do.”

The ladies shout at each other across a table, with their co-stars spread awkwardly around them.

As the insults begin to fly, including Ubah calling Brynn a “snake,” the cast members express that they think she’s gone too far by saying, “Woah,” at the same time.

It all seems pretty normal for a Real Housewives show, right? Yeah… that is until Sai looks up from his food and says, “Pineapple.”

Ubah takes the hint and replies, “Pineapple, that’s for sure.”

Asking the question everyone wants an answer to, Jenna says, “What is pineapple?”

Ubah says, “Nothing,” before Sai adds, “Pineapple is my favorite.”

Brynn states the obvious, adding, “Why are you yelling pineapple in the middle of a conversation? This is weird.”

Erin Lichy suggests: “Do you have a safe word?”

In a confessional, Sai says, “It really works, doesn’t it? Calm down.”

‘Pineapple’ causes confusion

Judging by X (Twitter), it’s not just Ubah and Sai’s co-stars who are totally confused by the word “pineapple” being said.

Not only are many people totally “over” the cast trying to make “dove” ‘happen,’ but now “pineapple” is having its shining moment.

Many fans take to social media this October to ask why on earth the tropical fruit would get a mention out of nowhere: “Ubah is on Brynn’s neck, and then Sai says “pineapple” silently. That… ?!?!?”

Sai clearly dropped the “pineapple” sign to give Ubah a message: “Stop talking,” but it’s still a pretty random word choice.

One fan took to Ubah is going off the rails as there are cameras watching her. “We want to see Ubah be herself and not edit her emotions because of the camera.”

More people found the safe word fruit quite funny, commenting: “The ladies will know if you yell ‘pineapple’ at Ubah, that will make him stop yelling” and another wrote: “The pineapple thing was pretty iconic.”
