MILF Manor star Kelle Mortensen says it’s a “miracle” that her son, Joey Burford, is “alive.” His statement comes after the 21-year-old suffered a “serious scooter accident” that forced him to undergo facial reconstruction surgery.

The reality TV stars rose to fame during season 1 of MILF Manor. Kelle wasted no time getting to know her castmates on the TLC show last year. Kelle and Joey returned for season 2 this year and the bond between mother and son was tested once again. Off the show, a terrifying accident causes Kelle to raise funds to help pay her son’s medical bills.

Joey Burford’s ‘serious scooter accident’

On October 20, Kelle Mortensen created a GoFundMe page to raise money for her son, Joey Burford.

The reality TV star explains how Joey suffered a “serious scooter accident.”

She writes: “This tragic event has resulted in significant complications that will require him to undergo multiple facial reconstruction surgeries.”

Kelle adds that Joey faces “mounting medical bills” and “…with a long and challenging road to recovery” ahead, there is no idea when he will be able to return to work.

The MILF Manor star says, “We’re creating this GoFundMe to help cover Joey’s medical expenses, surgeries, and monthly bills while he focuses on healing.”

In the first update post on the fundraising page, Kelle writes: “Joey had a successful 3 hour surgery last night to fix some of the broken bones in his face.”

She adds that her son “still has the breathing tube in and the bleeding in the brain is minor.”

Kelle tells fans: “We’re lucky he’s still alive and it’s a total miracle he didn’t break his neck or back.”

Kelle is raising money for her son

Giving fans an update on October 21, Kelle shares some images of Joey while he recovers in the hospital.

The TLC star can be seen lying in a hospital bed with a bloody face and bandages on her face and head.

Kelle first thanks people for their “generosity” before explaining that her son currently has “plates and screws in his face” following the accident and subsequent surgeries.

“Joey will be on a liquid diet for the next six weeks due to the plates and screws in his face. As of this morning at 9am, his breathing tube was successfully removed. Although he has faced some challenges, including the need for extensive dental work and additional facial surgeries, we are relieved to report that the bleeding in his brain has stopped and has not worsened,” he writes.

Kelle adds that her son “remains in the ICU today to undergo a swallowing test.”

“If all goes well, he may be transferred to another floor and discharged from the hospital on Wednesday or Thursday of this week,” he added.
