The reality star welcomes two additions to her family during new episodes that reunite some of the Sister Wives stars, formerly separated. Any squeamish TLC fans may have to look away and close their ears during season 19 of Sister Wives, as Mykelti opens up about her birth story this fall. The reality TV star is now a mother of three after welcoming Avalon, Ace and Archer into the world with her husband, Tony Padron.

Sister Wives Mykelti eats the placenta

Mykelti’s birth story appears during season 19 of Sister Wives.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the star welcoming the twins into the world as her heart rate skyrocketed during delivery.

But when her father, Kody Brown, talks to her, she expresses that she is in good spirits.

“After giving birth I don’t have any depression, I’m very well. “I’m eating the placenta,” Mykelti explains.

She continues: “It’s lovely.”

Robyn Brown chimes in: “Yeah, that helps a lot with that.”

Mykelti tells cameras that she “strongly recommends all women eat their placenta.”

She explains how it’s made up of “all the nutrients” and “all the really good things that help feed the baby when you’re pregnant.”

Mykelti apparently had her placenta turned into capsules, adding, “…it’s very good for you.”

Some people claim that eating your placenta offers health benefits during childbirth recovery, including better milk production and a lower risk of postpartum depression, but this is not scientifically proven.

The risk of eating placenta is that it may be contaminated with viruses or bacteria. It may also contain toxins such as heavy metals that it leaches from the blood.

Sister wives ‘bit off a raw piece’

It turns out that Mykelti has been down this road before. She is no stranger to motherhood or eating placenta. However, the first time he did things slightly differently.

Kody Brown’s daughter proudly tells cameras how she ate raw placenta after giving birth to her daughter, Avalon.

She tells her dad, “I took a bite… it has no taste.”

Speaking before the cameras in a confessional, Mykelti says: “I did it, I ate a piece raw,” before mimicking the moment.

“Then they turned another piece into a smoothie,” he adds.

His partner, Tony Padrón, seems disgusted by the moment, as do many fans who took to X (Twitter) about the placenta issue.

One says it’s “TMI,” while another tweets, “I can’t hear them talking about raw placenta. Please stop.”

Mykelti doesn’t stop there, adding: “I have a photo of my placenta on my phone and you can see the bite mark I took from it.”

Tony puts in his two cents: “It’s big too, like a skirt steak…”
