As a new Strictly Come Dancing airs on the BBC this autumn, rumors are swirling, as usual. Everything from Pete and Jowita’s “kisses” to stars who are enemies behind the scenes are the subject of gossip. In early October, Wynne Evans and Katya Jones were wagging their tongues over a rumor about hand placement.
The Strictly Come Dancing duo removed any negative connotations surrounding the ‘hand placement’ poleva – but are now subject to new rumours. Some viewers of the BBC show suggest the pair are “not talking”, following an “awkward” performance in Week 8.

‘Wynne and Katya are not speaking’
As opera singer Wynne and professional dancer Katya continue to progress in series 22 of Strictly, viewers are conjuring up all sorts of rumors about them.
During week 8, the two performed a rumba to This Is My Life by legendary singer Dame Shirley Bassey.
While many people tipped their hats to Wynne and Katya and commented: “Absolutely beautiful dance!! Backed with a theatrical ending. Fantastic!!!”, others suggest that there is an “uncomfortable” air between the two.
A viewer tweets via X (Twitter): “Absolutely nothing will convince me that Katya and Wynne are talking outside of their rehearsals/show. “They’re not even back together.”
More people have said that the two look “super awkward” in previous weeks on the show.
Although some suggest Wynne and Katya “aren’t talking”, the Welsh singer debunks the concept when he appears on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, according to the Border Counties Advertizer.
Wynne explains how the couple’s rumba “is about love…”
“…And start loving yourself, which is something I’m just discovering and something I’m learning a lot from Katya onwards,” he explains.
Speaking of Katya, Wynne praises her partner: “Even though she is 20 years younger than me, she is teaching me to be more resilient and not to look for validation elsewhere, to find that love from within.”
‘You can tell this is personal for Wynne’
When Wynne takes the stage in Week 8, some fans are taking his performance in a big way.
One even goes so far as to say that they “felt a strange subtext” to the dance: “…like they were a couple getting divorced, and they both said, ‘this is my life’ before going their separate ways.”
Others think This Is My Life Rumba is “personal” for Wynne and don’t see the negativity others talk about.
Many viewers praise the singer for his performance, writing, “You can tell this is personal for Wynne! I thought this is beautiful and has one of the best endings ever! Wynne’s magical voice!!
Another writes that he was “moved” by the “stunning performance” and others say: “Don’t forget that this was a rumba, one of the hardest dancers and that it was a great performance and choreography by Katya. Give the guy some credit! “He did well.”
From the looks of it, Wynne and Katya are debunking and dispelling rumors about their partnership and impressing people with their combined talents all the time.
