Michael Bublé is excited during The Voice 26 when a contestant returns to the stage after three years. Camryn Brooks first appeared on The Voice during season 21, but she gets a second chance at stardom in an “epic” return to the show.
Contestants on The Voice often have incredible stories to tell, but Camryn Brooks’ journey on the NBC show is unlike any other. The singer flips the script after rejection in 2021: she didn’t receive chair turns during her first time on the show. After her audition, Camryn battled heart disease.
Camryn B’s first audition on The Voice
Three years ago, Camryn took the Voice stage as Camryn B. She was 21 years old and lent her stunning vocals to Adele’s Homegrown Glory.
Although her performance was beautiful, she didn’t bring enough to the table for the judges to turn their chairs.
After her rejection on The Voice, Camryn had to deal with a three-year health ordeal.
At just 21 years old, Camryn was diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, People writes.
The singer’s battle against heart disease
As Camryn returns to singing on The Voice and the judges give her four chair turns on season 26, she’s super excited.
Given that he had battled his heart disease for three years, the musician wondered if he would ever sing again. “It was really scary because I couldn’t say more than three words at a time…” he said.
Camryn added that she felt “blessed to be here,” as she was worried during her health scare that she might “die.”
People adds: “Brooks said that for the past three years, he has worked ‘non-stop’ on his heart health and can finally finish a song and even dance a little.”
